Barbara A. Coerper

June 22, 1933 - March 25, 2025

Barbara Anne Coerper born June 22, 1933, departed this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday March 25, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late LeRoy Alexander and Cassie Lena (Morris) Brown, and the wife of the late Myron Donald Coerper.

Survived by her daughters Sheila Meek of Waynesboro, VA and Bonnie Tate of Charlottesville, VA. Her four grandchildren: Bridgette Aliehs, Tara Woodson (Jonathan), Shawn Tate (Rachel) and Dustin Meek (Kristen). Her five great-grandchildren: Autum, Leia, Teagan, Tyberius, and Gabriel, and her four great-great grandchildren: Braylen, Winter, Skyla, and Lakelyn; as well as her sister-in-law Faye Brown.

Barbara was the baby of her family, preceded in death by her eleven siblings: Frank Morton Brown of Albuquerque, NM; Lillian Annie Lee Darnell (Susie) of Orange, VA; Gordon Neil Brown of Ruckersville, VA; Ruby Gaynell Cavalero of Las Vegas, NV; Ivy Lucille Bethel of Roanoke, VA; and Guy Earnest Brown (Jack); Richard Alfonso Brown (Billy); Willie R. Brown; Martha Matteal Graves (Matt); John Basil Brown (BB) and her twin brother Robert Thomas Brown (Bobby) all of Charlottesville, VA. Both of her sons-in-law: Charles Tate and Michael Meek; as well as her first great-grandson, who held a special place in her heart, Corey Allen Carroll.

She was fierce and feisty, yet kindhearted, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to work in her garden and watch her flowers grow. She spent many years dancing and socializing at the Moose and Elks Lodge, throwing strikes in her bowling league, and traveling around this beautiful country. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, reading romance novels, walking for exercise, and spending time with all her grandchildren, the great and great-great ones whom she loved immensely.

A Charlottesville native, her first job was working at the Soda Fountain at Timberwood Drug Store downtown. Later she went to work at GE- General Electric, where she retired in 1995. She was a Faithful and Active member of Cherry Avenue Christian Church. We are forever thankful for the beautiful life she lived; she will be missed terribly, but we know she is finally Home.
