Charles Richardson
Charles A. "Rick" Richardson Jr., 81 of Troy, Va. passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was born on May 2, 1943, in Baltimore, Md. and was the son of the late Charles A. Richardson, Sr., and Frances R. Richardson. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Alfred Richardson, III and a sister Mary E. Bowman of Louisa, Va.
Rick is survived by his wife of 49 years Mora Maupin Richardson of Troy, Va., two sisters, Laverne Baumgardner of Culpeper and Barbara Williamson of N.C. and sister-in-law Gloria M. Maupin of Palmyra, Va.
Although he was born in the State of Maryland, Rick spent most of his young life in Orange County, Va. After graduation from Orange County High School, Rick joined the United States Air Force. Upon his return to civilian life, Rick worked for the State Health Department in Orange for 36 years as an Environmental Health Specialist. He retired in 2005 to enjoy life and pursued his passionate love of golf. He was a member of the Greene Hills Country Club for many years where he played with his golfing buddies.
Rick and Mora traveled to Bermuda on vacation one summer. While there he played the Belmont Golf Club and the Mid Ocean Club, which he enjoyed very much. They later traveled to Jamaica where he played Tryall Golf Club. Apart from his trips with Mora, Rick also enjoyed several trips to Pinehurst with his golfing buddies. He was a VIP Member 2003 of the Virginia State Golf Association.
Rick and his wife were very compassionate about animals. They opened their home with love and care to twenty-five animals over many years. They loved each one equally.
Rick was a loving husband and will be missed deeply. He was also a loving son, a caring brother, and a good friend whose quick wit would always leave you with a smile.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Graham Cemetery, 14293 Constitution Hwy. (Rt. 20) in Orange with Pastor Brian Robinson officiating. Preddy Funeral of Orange is assisting the family with arrangements.
