Upon his return to civilian life, Rick worked for the State Health Department in Orange for 36 years as an Environmental Health Specialist. He retired in 2005 to enjoy life and pursued his passionate love of golf. He was a member of the Greene Hills Country Club for many years where he played with his golfing buddies.

Rick and Mora traveled to Bermuda on vacation one summer. While there he played the Belmont Golf Club and the Mid Ocean Club, which he enjoyed very much. They later traveled to Jamaica where he played Tryall Golf Club. Apart from his trips with Mora, Rick also enjoyed several trips to Pinehurst with his golfing buddies. He was a VIP Member 2003 of the Virginia State Golf Association.

Rick and his wife were very compassionate about animals. They opened their home with love and care to twenty-five animals over many years. They loved each one equally.

Rick was a loving husband and will be missed deeply. He was also a loving son, a caring brother, and a good friend whose quick wit would always leave you with a smile.
