John Henry Thurston

John Henry Thurston, 88, of MIdmont, Lane, Orange, Va. died on Monday, August 19, 2024 at his residence. He was born on August 18, 1936, in Avon, NY, and was the son of the late John Ruben Thurston and Susie Lewis Thurston. He was a retired U. S. Army Veteran and also retired as a charter bus driver.

He is survived by his wife Mary Virginia Maddox Thurston of Orange; three daughters Endolyn Munsel Merritt and husband Barry of Glen Burnie, MD, Wanda Brown and husband Derek of Chesapeake, and Dondeallia Seana Johnson and husband Calvin of Virginia Beach; three sons Eric Marlon Thurston and wife Anita of Chesapeake, John H. Thurston Jr. of Orange, and Nathaniel T. Thurston and wife Theresa of Las Vegas; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Preddy Funeral Chapel, Orange Rev. Frank Lewis will officiate. Interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. at the Culpeper National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at the Preddy Funeral Home, Orange.
