Doris Shifflett Lohr Haney
Doris Shifflett Lohr Haney September 30, 2025 Doris Shifflett Haney, 80 of Aroda, Va. passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Greene Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing in Stanardsville, Va. She was born on August 5, 1945 to the late George Clark Shifflett and Dora Collier Shifflett Knighting. Doris was a person who found joy in so many things- traveling to new places, dancing to her favorite music (she loved to jitterbug), tending to her garden, and decorating her home for the holidays. She had a special gift for making every season feel festive and welcoming. But above all, Doris cherished hosting family gatherings in her home, where her love and warmth could be felt by everyone who walked through her door. Doris’s strong Christian faith was also central to who she was, and she was a proud and faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her generosity, her devotion to her family, her faith-filled life, and the way she made everyone around her feel loved and at home.
Doris worked for many years with the A&P grocery store, remaining with the various companies that later purchased the chain. During her career, she formed many lasting friendships- not only with her co-workers, but also with the loyal customers she served over the years.
She is survived by her husband, George Wayne Haney; daughter, Connie Lohr Sisler and husband Mike; son; Brent Lohr and wife Heidi; son, Chad Lohr and wife Karen.
Grandchildren: Michael Ryder, Becca Ryder, Kaelan Jordan, Aynsley Lohr, Holland Lohr, Hazell Lohr, Addyson Lohr and Hatcher Lohr
Great grandchildren: Hayden Mundy, Ryder Mundy and Logan Painting
Step daughters: Leslie Haga (Jason), Kristi Fitzgerald (Randy)
Step grandchildren: Caleb Haga, Bryce Fitzgerald and Myles Fitzgerald
She is survived by her loving siblings, James Shifflett (Sue), George Shifflett (Cindy), Debbie Lauria (Tom), Ricky Shifflett (Jan), Chris Knighting and her many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother, Steve Shifflett and sister, Kathy Hale.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Good Hope Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow the 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Duggins officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. After the graveside service, a reception will be held at the Madison County Fire Hall, where all are invited to join the family in celebrating Doris’s life.
