Barbara K. Lonick
Barbara K. Lonick passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, in Orange, Virginia. Born on May 23, 1936, in Metuchen, New Jersey, Barbara was the cherished only child of Walter William Knudson and Katherine Ellen Thomas Knudson. Barbara shared a remarkable life with her beloved husband, Raymond Charles Lonick. Married for 68 years until his passing in September 2025, their partnership was a testament to love and devotion. Together, they raised four children: Kathleen Bagot (William), Christine Dermody (John), James Lonick (Deborah), and Patricia Vergel de Dios (Rey). Barbara/Grammie’s legacy continues through her 12 precious grandchildren – Christopher Bagot, Brian Bagot, Allison Bagot Paulsen (Grant), Emily Bagot Williams (Ryan), Matthew Dermody (Lindsay), Mariah Dermody, Abigail Lonick, Jay Lonick (Cindi), Adrianna Lonick Reta (Greg), Michael Vergel de Dios. Jonathon Vergel de Dios, David Vergel de Dios and her 10 great-grandchildren. Barbara and Ray were the proud owners of The Hidden Inn Bed & Breakfast. As the heart and soul of the inn, Barbara delighted in meeting guests who often became lifelong friends. Her warmth, hospitality, and sense of humor created a welcoming haven for all who crossed the threshold. Known for her boundless optimism and ability to see the silver lining in every situation, Barbara had an extraordinary gift for making everyone she encountered feel valued and appreciated. She lived each day with joy and purpose, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and her devoted husband. Her memory will be cherished by family and all whose lives she touched. May Barbara’s legacy of kindness and joy continue to inspire those who knew her. A burial mass will take place on Saturday, June 27th at 11 am at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Orange, Virginia. Internment to follow the mass.
