Ellen Weakley Fox

Ellen Weakley Fox, 84, of Oak Park, Va., passed away on September 28, 2026, at her daughter’s home. She was born on February 14, 1942, to the late Claude Roosevelt Weakley and Mary Sudie Weakley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Caldwell Fox; sisters, Peggy Smith, Mildred Lamb, Mary Ann Ponder; brothers, Claude Weakley, Jr., Ruben Weakley, Jesse Weakley, Jimmy Weakley, and Charles Weakley. Ellen retired from Comdial and later Wal-Mart. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s events. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Fox Hurt and husband Rex; son, James Michael Fox, brothers, Russell Weakley, Randall Weakley and wife Kathy, Robert Weakley, John Weakley and wife Shelby; sister, Margaret Long and husband Jimmy; sisters-in-law, Linda Weakley and Sharon Weakley; grandchildren, Kaleb Hurt and wife Adrian, Gracie Giffin and husband Robbie, Luke Hurt, Isaac Hurt; great-grandchildren, Karter Hurt, and another surprise great-grandchild arriving in March, 2027. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, with interment in Criglersville Cemetery. Pastor Jerry Thomas and Pastor Neal Kight will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont for their love and care for Ellen.
