Alie Sanford

September 3, 1946 - December 20, 2023

Alie Sanford, born on September 3, 1946, peacefully departed from this world on December 20, 2023, with her beloved daughter-in-law holding her hand. She was the middle child of three siblings and was raised by loving parents with whom she maintained close, enduring relationships. At the age of 9, Alie devoted her life to Jesus Christ, and she lived each day with His spirit as her guiding light.

After completing her education, Alie pursued a fulfilling career as a high school English Teacher. Following her marriage to Mason Sanford and a relocation, she retired from teaching. Alie dedicated her time to her growing family, engaging in her Bible study group and, as the years unfolded, more and more grandchildren. Her unwavering support for them shone brightly as she attended countless sporting events, cheering them on with joy and pride.

Alie was recognized for her vibrant expressions of individuality, notably through her dynamic hair colors—recently changed to a festive red and green for Christmas. She also had a distinctive red sports car and ever-changing nail colors. Beyond her unique style, Alie was deeply connected to her spiritual community. A dedicated member of The Point Church in Charlottesville, Virginia, she actively contributed to the Dream Team. On the morning of her passing, she finalized the last email send for the Prayer Team, underscoring her unwavering commitment to her church community.

Alie is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Gwen Edwards, her sister, Joanne Miller, and her husband, Mason Sanford. She is survived by her brother and sister in law, Jim and Thelma Edwards. She leaves behind a legacy of love survived by her daughter, Amy Sanford, son and daughter-in-law, Julius and Jodi Gist, and stepson and daughter-in-law, John and Deb Sanford. Additionally, she is survived by her seven cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Tawni, Makaela, Faith, Nikki, Anthony, and Benny, and her three great-grandchildren, Clay, Luca and Talia.

May Alie Sanford rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever alive in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 30, 2023, at Preddy Funeral Home in Orange.
