Carolyn Louise Rowe

It is with great sadness the family of Carolyn Louise Rowe, 83 of Madison County, Va., has gone home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 20, 2026 in Louisa County, Va. She was born on January 18, 1943 to the late Franklin Pierce Steele and Hazel Kennedy Steele. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Lee Carter; and son, Charles Irvin Rowe, Jr.

Carolyn was born in Welch, West Virginia to the late Franklin Pierce Steele and Hazel Kennedy Steele of Little Huff Creek, West Virginia. Over her lifetime, she has lived and worked in Chicago,Il. and Rochester, NY. before settling in Virginia with her late husband, Carroll Lee Carter (Curly).

She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Ann Rowe, Betty S. Collins, and Tina Lynn Rowe; sons, Clyde Truman Rowe (Diana), Richard E. Carter (Sheila) and Ricky Edward Rowe; brothers, Henry Doyle Steele and Micah Steele; granddaughter, Kiersten A. Rowe and great-grandson, Phillip Rashard Newman; 14 additional grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A host of extended family and friends, including a special aunt, Ruth Kennedy of Madison, Va. and a cousin Loraine Shultz of Laeger, WV.; two dear friends and neighbors, Pat Rogers and Diane Hermanson; a devoted friend to her and Curly, Clarence Shelton, Sr. of Mineral, Va.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Jeffersonton, Va. Pastor Bruce Beeler, Jr. will be officiating. A family night visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center; administrator Monique Bruce and the amazing staff who gave great care, love, and support to our mother while in their facility.
