Douglas Scott Colvin
Douglas Scott Colvin ‘Scotty’,79, of Somerset, Va passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, February 8, 2026, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Charlottesville, Va., on April 10, 1946, to Carson and Louella Colvin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Jimmy, Preacher and Bob Colvin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Colvin of 45 years, his daughters Ashlee Scott Mitchell (Tom) of Arnold, Md, April Garrett Wilkerson of Somerset, Va, and his son, Ricky Redell Wilkerson (Crystal) of Orange, Va. A very special niece Diane Grymes (Randy) of Orange, Va and her daughter Emily Grymes, of Phoenix, Az. Eight grandchildren that he adored, Christopher Mills, Casey Mills, Madison Martin, Alixandra Mitchell, Blake Wilkerson, Jack Mitchell, Claire Wilkerson and Cole Wilkerson.
Scotty retired from Klockner Penteplast after 32 years of service. During retirement Scotty enjoyed working for Fishers Auto Parts delivering to the community he grew up in. Scotty was an avid sports fan and especially loved his Washington Redskins. Scotty enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and never met a stranger and was loved by so many.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, with Pastor Zachary Shifflett officiating at Preddy’s Funeral Home Orange, Va.
Following the service, there will be a gathering at the Town of Orange Public Works Building where the family will be sporting burgundy and gold in honor of Scotty’s favorite team, all are welcome to wear their favorite jerseys.
