It is with sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Edna A. Fincham, age 98, of Culpeper Va.

Edna is survived by her daughter Patricia (and her husband Steven); her grandchildren Richard (and his wife Teresa and their daughter Kayla); Peggy (and her husband Ronnie and her children Jesse, John, and James); and Sherry (and her husband Harvey and their children Megan and Sarah and her husband DJ); and great-great grandchildren.

Edna was predeceased by her parents Clifton and Nellie Aylor; her siblings Carlton Aylor, Anna Yowell, Gladys Aylor, and Rosa Lee Aylor; her children Benny Yowell and Betty McIntosh; and husbands Lester Yowell and George Fincham.

Edna grew up in Madison County where some of her fondest memories were helping her father on the family farm to include daily chores of taking care of the livestock and plowing the fields with the horse teams. After moving to Culpeper as an adult, Edna cherished raising her family to include not only her children but also her three grandchildren. Edna would react “at the drop of a hat” whenever the family was in need; she was known as a force and foundation upon which the family could lean. She was a professional seamstress, tailor, and quilter who provided services to her family, extended family, and community family—who always needed help with their wardrobes. Edna’s favorite time of year was Spring; she enjoyed gardening to provide fresh fruit and vegetables for the table along with nurturing her flower gardens.

Our mother’s/grandmother’s/Aunt Edna’s love will always be part of us. She weathered many storms and will go to our Lord knowing she did the best she could, which was simply the best. The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to Our Father’s House Christian Home for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion given to our loved one in her final years.
