Jackie Nathaniel Poindexter, 66, of Keswick, Va, departed his earthly home in the late evening of February 13, 2026.
Born on June 10, 1959, in Goochland County, he was the son of the late Charlie Henry and Angelee Gardner Poindexter of Cobham, Virginia in Albemarle County. In addition to his parents, Jackie is preceded in death by his brother, Tony A. Poindexter; his grandparents, Charlie H. Sr. and Susie K. Poindexter, and James and Gillie Yancey Gardner; his aunts, Elenora Gardner, Elsie Johnson, and Gertrude C. Gardner; his uncles James Gardner, Jr., and William J. Poindexter; and his nephew, Jamie J. Poindexter.
Jackie was educated in the Albemarle County School System. He went on to work in the equestrian profession as a groom at Cismont Manor Farm, taking care of show horses.
Jackie leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Sharon Arnett (Marvin) of Keswick, Va, and Amanda D. Poindexter of Keswick, VA; his brothers, Charlie L. Poindexter (Julie) of Louisa, VA, Roland D. Poindexter (Patricia) of Charlottesville, VA, and Michael A. Poindexter (Fiancé, Karen) of Charlottesville, VA; his nephews, Antron M. Poindexter of Keswick, VA, Markida D. Poindexter (Jessica) of Keswick, VA, and Darren A. Poindexter (Devoted Friend, Chantal) of Los Angeles, CA.; and his uncles, Ronnie L. Poindexter of Gordonsville, VA, Robert Gardner of Gordonsville, VA, and George Gardner of Charlottesville, VA. His memory will also be cherished by his aunts, Margaret Gardner of CT, and Ida Poindexter of Gordonsville, VA; and his great-nieces, Amaya Page of Augusta, VA, and Malia Poindexter of Keswick, VA; his special friends, Johnny Johnson, Dowell Johnson Jr., Danny Taliaferro, Greg McCauley, his close cousin, Keith Coleman, and his special nieces, Lauren Wright, and Hope Page.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. John Baptist Church in Keswick. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.
