Winston Wayne Dickerson

A Time to Be Born
Winston was born on November 12, 1947, one of eight children born to the late Samuel and Ophelia Mae Dickerson in Lexington, Virginia.

A Time to Love and Live
He attended Rockbridge County Public School System. He later moved to Upper Marlboro, Maryland where he met his loving wife the late Alice Delores Dickerson. He loved joy riding with his wife, family and friends. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan, which made their home very interesting especially when they played the Commanders. In addition to working together for many years, they made a home filled with love and devotion.

A Time to Serve
Winston was employed by National Geographic and during his tenure there, he met his wife Alice Delores and they shared many years of love to each other. After retiring, they moved to Virginia and built a loving home near family and friends on the family property in Louisa, Virginia. He then went to work for Jaunt Inc and drove school bus for Louisa County School System for many years. Where he officially retired on September 1, 2018.

A Time to Die
Winston peacefully entered his eternal rest at Martha Jefferson Hospital at the age of 78 on Monday, December 1, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father Samuel Dickerson; Mother Ophelia Mae Dickerson; his loving wife Alice Delores Dickerson, one sister Ada Johnson, one brother Madison Dickerson, one son Kevin Wells, one grandchild Ja'Quan Dickerson and one devoted brother in law William McIntosh.

A Time to Mourn
He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Korey Delonte Dickerson (Antoinette), Aniko Dickerson Chisley (Steven), Nazarryo Dickerson, and Kenneth Wayne Dickerson (Lori); and his siblings, three sisters Gladys McIntosh, Karen Dickerson, Derenda Moore (Greg), two brothers Archie Dickerson (Joyce), and Samuel Dickerson; Six sister in laws Marie Dickerson, Linda Dickerson, Janet Carter, Myrtle Higdon, Garcia Lewis and Margaret Carter; three brother in laws Lloyd Carter (Hazel), Russell Carter (Teresa) and Wayne Carter (Lou). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua Utz, Sa’Niah Dickerson, Tierra Sherman, Tevin Sherman, Kanisa Cromer (Ronald Jr.), Ebony Whitley, Kenneth Wayne Dickerson, Jr. (Brittany), Stephanie Chisley, Cameron Dickerson, Zoe Dickerson, Miles Dickerson, and Bryce Dickerson; and his great-grandchildren, Gabriella Utz, Jayze Utz, Amare Riggs, Kali Poindexter, Salana Gray, Ronald Cromer, III, DeMarco Dobbins, Kendrick & Ke’Juan Whitely, Daniel Merchant, Jr., Rheagan, Roman, and Ronel Cromer and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Winston will be fondly remembered for his kindness, faithfulness, his dedication to God and his love of his family. He was a people person and caring by nature.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Preddy’s Funeral Home Chapel, 301 South Main Street, Gordonsville, VA 22942. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service on Friday. Per the Request by the Family their will not be a Interment or Repast.
