Albert R. Booth

June 19, 1934 - October 13, 2023

Albert Roy Booth, 89 of Charlottesville, Virginia passed away after a brief illness at his home surrounded by family on October 13, 2023.

Albert was born on June 19, 1934 at the family home in Pickens, West Virginia, to the late Harry and Myrtle Booth atop a beautiful mountain in Randolph county just up the road from Silica and not too far from Helvetia if you don’t mind a long walk.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Jessie Ryder Booth and siblings Ralph, Lloyd, Harley, Vernon, Lawrence, Lucille and twin Sister Alberta.

Albert is survived by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Anne Hughes Booth; children: Sarah Poteet (Mark),Timothy Booth (Michael); Grandchildren: Victoria Blake (John), Kevin Poteet and Great grandchildren: Johnathan and Emily Blake.

After graduating from Pickens High School in 1952 he tried his hand at many trades: saw milling, carpentry, plumbing, building a gymnasium for Pickens High School, truck driving, and one year in the coal mines. The most rewarding career was 37 years at Jefferson National Bank in Charlottesville. If that wasn’t enough, 10 of those years he spent the Summer seasons with Anne as concessionaire for Westmoreland State Park along the shores of the Potomac River.

Albert was extremely proud of his military service and was on the United States Army Reserve Rifle Team in Europe (USAREUR) where he spent 18 months on the Berlin Command Rifle Team and was Berlin Command Champion 1958.

He and Anne were married in 1963 and blessed to share 60 wonderful years. 50 of those were spent on their beloved Cedarbrook Farm in Albemarle County where he loved to farm, tend his animals, watch his pine trees grow and most of all hunt with friends and family. After retirement they spent many years RV-ing and wintering in Naples, FL where the fish didn’t stand a chance.

He also served as Deacon at First Baptist Church and on the building committee for construction of the new FBC on Park Street.

To honor his wishes no services will be held. The family will celebrate his life in the future.
