Alfred Wells
Alfred Wells Jr. December 26, 2024 Alfred Wells, Jr., 90, of Newport News, VA, drifted peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Born on March 16, 1934, in Louisa County, he was the son of the late Alfred Wells Sr. and Ethel Wells. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Bolden and Mattie Tate and three brothers, Frank Wells, Harold Wells and William Wells. He attended Louisa County Public Schools and was a dedicated, hard worker in all his endeavors. He had a passion for working on cars and for many years he was a mechanic in Louisa County. He could fix almost anything with an engine. There was only one car brand that had his heart. He was a Ford man and throughout the years he owned, fixed and loved his Ford's. Years later, he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland
where he worked as an HVAC technician until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Parklane Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD. He was a kindhearted, gentle man who loved his family and the Lord.
He leaves to cherish in his memory, wife of 68 years, Ella Mae Wells of Newport News, VA., two children, Curtis Wells of Williamsburg, VA, Linda Hunter (Sylvester) of Newport News, VA., brother James Wells (Mary) of Charlottesville,VA., sister Ethel Cunningham of Palmyra, VA., four grandchildren, Terrell Wells (Grace) of Chicago, IL., Shanise Hunter, Tierra Hunter, Kellie Hunter of NewportNews, VA., and two
great-grandchildren Cameron Wells and Carter Wells. His memory will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
The family would like to thank all who were involved in his care. Your compassion and dedication were greatly appreciated. Also, thank you to those who have sent cards, texts, donations, and other acts of kindness. Your many acts of kindness and sympathy continue to be a great comfort to us in our time of sorrow.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 12 Noon at the Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, VA. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12 Noon at the funeral home before the service.
