Alice Delores Dickerson
Alice Delores Dickerson, 76, of Louisa, Virginia, departed this life peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2023, at her residence. She was one of thirteen children born to the late Linwood and Alice Carter.
Christ was born on Christmas Day. He called home one of his children Alice Delores Dickerson on the day of his birth. Alice was born on November 17, 1947, in Louisa County. She attended Louisa County Public Schools and accepted Christ at an early age. She left Virginia and moved to Maryland and later met her husband, Wayne Dickerson. She and her deceased spouse Donald Wells had one son.
She was employed by National Geographics for many years, and later became a licensed day care provider in Maryland. Upon her return to Virginia, she continued nurturing and caring for children in her home.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to her favorite R&B Singer Johnny Taylor and enjoyed watching her favorite football team the Washington Commanders. She faithfully received the Word of God on every Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., and there would be no interruptions.
She was preceded in death by her father, Linwood Carter; mother, Alice Carter; three sisters Lula Anderson, Veronica Brothers and Lottie Jackson; three brothers, James Carter, Rylander Carter and Harold Jackson; and one grandson, Ja-Quan Dickerson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Winston (Wayne) Dickerson of Louisa, Virginia; two sons, Kevin (Juanita) Wells and Korey (Antoinette) Dickerson of Gordonsville, Virginia; three step children, Kenneth, Nazarryo and Aniko Dickerson; four grandchildren, Sa’Niah Dickerson, Tierra Sherman, Tevin Sherman and Joshua Utz; three great grandchildren, Amare Riggs, Kali Poindexter and Gabriella Utz; three sisters, Janet Carter, Myrtle (Joe) Higdon and Garcia Lewis; three brothers, Lloyd (Hazel) Carter, Russell (Teresa) Carter and Wayne (Lou) Carter; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Carter, Ann Dickerson, Karen Dickerson and Gladys McIntosh; two brothers-in-law, Archie and Samuel Dickerson; a lifelong devoted friend, Connie Fountain; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with Funeral Services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Preddy’s Funeral Home Chapel, 301 South Main Street, Gordonsville, VA 22942, with interment to follow in Carter Family Cemetery, 626 Carter Road, Louisa, Virginia 23093. There will be no Repast.
