Aljourney Williams
Aljourney “Journey” Williams transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.
He was born on April 6, 1934. He was so proud of his 90 years. He was the son of the late Ashbury and Susie Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Ethel Graves Williams; a son, Jerome “Peanut” Williams; five brothers; and one sister.
Journey, affectionately known as “The Piano Man” never met a stranger. He was a family man that truly loved his family. He was a self-taught piano tuner/technician. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Stanardsville, Va., where he played piano for the Gospel Chorus for some years and for funerals. He also played for surrounding churches in Elkton, Madison, Rappahannock, Nelson, and Marshall.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Ellen Williams of Ruckersville; two sons, James Williams of Linden, N. J. and Aljourney E. Williams of Earlysville; four grandsons, Shawn Williams, Quincy Lewis, Shemar Williams, and Travis Brown; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Walker of Charlottesville and Emma Brock of Ruckersville; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Bernice Herndon of Stanardsville, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the care and support provided by SMJH during his short illness.
A visitation for friends and family to gather will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. The funeral will be on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Stanardsville, Va. Viewing at 11:00 am and funeral at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
