Ann O. Mahan

July 31, 1937 - February 1, 2025

Ann Elizabeth O’Rourke Mahan, 87, of Keswick, VA and formerly of Norfolk, VA passed away in her home on February 1, 2025.

She is predeceased by her parents Ellis T. O’Rourke and Mary C. O’Rourke of Oak Ridge, TN, her husband of 45 years, Jack D. Mahan, M.D., her sister Sue Carol O’Rourke Judd of Utah, and her son Gregory Lewis Mahan of Norfolk.

Ann is survived by her loving sons Jeff and Brian; Jeff’s wife Donna and their sons Jeffrey and Shane, and Jeffrey’s wife Carolyn; and Ann’s sister Patricia; her sister Sue’s husband Jim and their children, Terri, Missy, and Jason; Ann’s sister Patricia and her husband Robert and their children Emily and Bobby.

Ann was born in Kentucky and grew up in Tennessee. She attended Lincoln Memorial University where she met her soon to be husband Jack. She followed Jack to Charlottesville where they were married while he was attending the University of Virginia Medical School.

Ann, Jack and their three boys lived in Norfolk, Virginia, Fort Polk, Louisiana, Japan, and Suffolk, VA before returning to Norfolk, VA where they lived until Jack’s retirement when they moved back to Charlottesville, VA.

Ann had a wonderful relationship with her grandsons Jeff and Shane, and they had many adventures together.

She also loved her fur babies Dakota and Sadie whom she spoiled at every turn.

Ann loved to travel and entertain. She played tennis in her younger years, and most of all loved playing cards. She enjoyed gin, poker, and bridge. Mexican Train was one of her favorite board games. Ann was also a talented artist who loved to paint and sculpt, particularly paint. She also had a passion for decorating and gardening.

Ann had many good friends with whom she liked to travel, shop, attend shows, and try new restaurants.

Her last grand adventure, just this year, was to visit her son Brian in Mexico, and by all accounts, she had a wonderful time.

A funeral service will be held at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903 on Monday February 10th, 2025 at 1:00pm. Immediately following the service, Interment will be held at Monticello Memory Gardens. A reception with light refreshments will be held at Teague Funeral Service following the interment. For those who do not wish to go to the cemetery, the family welcomes you to remain at the funeral home for the reception.
