Arcell Campbell Sawyer
Arcell Campbell Sawyer, 79, of Waynesboro, Virginia passed away peacefully Sunday, March 3, 2024 at her residence.
Mrs. Sawyer was born June 16, 1944 in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Theodore Sr. and Jewell Ferrell Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Charles Douglas Sawyer and a brother, Theodore Campbell, Jr. of Elkton, Va.
Mrs. Sawyer will be remembered for her ambition to try almost anything including raising and caring for all kinds of animals, flying airplanes, quilting, sewing, gardening, showing dogs, and painting. Arcell loved all her pets, particularly her dogs. She also loved spending time with family, especially her granddaughter, Kristin. Arcell worked as a Respiratory Therapist for many years in Durham County, North Carolina.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Thrower, and her husband, Scott; son, Shea Sawyer, and his wife, Denise; three grandchildren, Ashley Sawyer, Michael Sawyer and Kristin Thrower; a sister in law, Anna Campbell and a special cousin, Susan Hall, as well as a niece, Michelle Campbell Champ and her nephews, Malcolm Scott Campbell and Michael Shawn Campbell.
A special thank you to the Hospice of the Shenandoah who were so caring and helpful to our family in helping fulfill Arcell’s final wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22930 for the Hospice of the Shenandoah Fund.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Old Goose Creek Rd, Fishersville, VA 22939.
