Barbara Jean Crawford Barden, age 88, of Barboursville passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Culpeper.

She was born August 6, 1935 in Gordonsville, to the late Beverly Lee Crawford and Rena Moubray Crawford. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Oscar Barden; two brothers, Beverly Lee Crawford Jr. and John E. Crawford; and a grandson, Thomas Luther Barden Jr.

She was a member of the Union Grove Christian Church for many years and an avid cook.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Joyce Ann Hamshar (Andrew) of Barboursville, Va.; sons, Thomas Luther Barden (Marti) of Cookville, Tenn., Roy Oscar Barden Jr. (Vicki) of Barboursville, Va., and Timothy Broderick Barden (Wanda) of Ruckersville, Va.; stepdaughter, Cheryl Whittle (Dickie) of Lancaster, Va.; six grandchildren, Travis Hamshar, Shannon Manke, Leigh Ann Isenhower, Tasha Lam, Roy Oscar “Trae” Barden III, and Bobbi Jo Weeks; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Union Grove Christian Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery, conducted by Terry Newton. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
