Betty J. Fitzgerald

Betty J. Fitzgerald (Smith), 81, of Charlottesville passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

A Virginia native, Betty was born on April 7, 1943 to the late Albert B. Smith and Nellie M. Smith (Floyd).

Betty retired from the Colonnade Club at the University of Virginia, where she enjoyed meeting and talking with professors when they stopped in for breakfast or lunch. She was an outgoing and caring person who loved her family, the blooming of flowers in the springtime, and walking her yorkie, "Honey", Every morning and evening. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by Junior H. Fitzgerald, her beloved husband of 65 years, and their daughter, Sharon D. Clark. Betty leaves behind her sons, Mike (Lori) and Mark (kim), son- in- law David Clark, grandchildren Heather, Kristen, Colby, Michael, Ryan, and Makayla, and great-grandchildren Jack, Adam, and Tatum.

There will be no formal services at this time.
