Carol Suzanne Grierson

Carol Suzanne Grierson passed away on Sunday July 30, 2023 in Charlottesville, Virginia at the age of 87. Suzanne was born in Utica, Ohio in 1935. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Portsmouth, Ohio with honors and the title of Homecoming Queen in 1953. After secondary education, she began her career in interior design, which she then furthered with her renovation of several family homes.

Suzanne enjoyed spending time with her children and many grandchildren, sitting in her kitchen, her dear family room, catching up with everyone’s busy lives, and always taking the opportunity to engage them in a spirited game of gin rummy. At home or elsewhere, she was the life of the party.

Suzanne was a bold, loving woman who stood firm and devoted herself to making a warm and inviting home. She loved to host, to decorate, and to bake (especially her famous Christmas cookies!). Her attention to detail made each occasion special for her children and grandchildren. Each holiday season, and on her birthday December 26th, she will be sorely missed and celebrated as lovingly as she celebrated her family.

She is survived by her two sisters, four children, many grandchildren, and a great-grandchild: Peggy Hatfield and Betty Reinhardt; Karla Ahmed, Adam, Jamie; Karen Jung, Rocky, Rohan, Cicily, Rosalie; Laurie Rhodes, Michael (Danielle), Makai; Catherine. Thomas Grierson (Candace), Savannah, Brody. She will be laid to rest alongside her two sons, Donald Joseph Grierson and Stephen Michael Grierson at Monticello Gardens Cemetery.
