Charles Lindy Gribble
Charles Lindy Gribble, known to his loved ones as Chuck, Charlie and as Pop-Pop to his grandbabies, passed away on September 13, 2023, at the age of 76 in Scottsville, VA. Born on December 31, 1946, in Emmerton, Virginia, Chuck was a beloved father, brother, and friend.
Chuck will be deeply missed by his son, Gene Allen Gribble (Loretta), daughters Christine Louise Gribble Sutherly, Kimberly Dawn Gribble Haines (Mark), and Rebecca Lynn Gribble Kocik (Devin); his eight grandchildren: Caleb, Aaron, Hannah, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Ella, Eric and Christopher and two great-grandchildren; his brother, John Gribble and sister, Ann Sacre. Also survived by his stepchildren, Sharon Cousins, Brenda Warner, Carl Yingling and Bruce Yingling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Wayne and Minnie Dodson Gribble; his wife, Marie Stonesifer Gribble, as well as his brother, Herbert Gribble.
Chuck is a proud veteran of the Vietnam war. For his service, he earned the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a long-time member of the American Legion for 25 years and the VFW.
Chuck found solace and community in his faith, attending Mount Eagle Baptist Church. His spiritual connection provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life.
In his free time, Chuck enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly tending to his yardwork. He had a special love for his four-legged animals, who were like his babies.
The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Teague Funeral Services in Charlottesville, VA. The family will receive friends and loved ones at Mount Eagle Baptist Church in Charlottesville on Saturday, September 30 at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at the church cemetery immediately following the service.
Pallbearers will be Gene Gribble, Mark Haines, Caleb Haines, Aaron Haines, Hannah Sutherly, Nathan Gribble and Tennis Hicks. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Gribble, Michael Gribble and Donald Burgamy.
