Charlotte grew up in North Arlington, NJ, and graduated from North Arlington High School in 1951. She graduated from Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing in 1954 as a registered nurse. In 1955 she moved to Indianapolis where she continued her work as an RN, and it was there she met her husband Jack. Charlotte and Jack married in September 1957 and lived in Evanston, IL for several years before moving to Rocky Hill, NJ. Retired from nursing, Charlotte stayed busy raising their 3 children, volunteering at the local library, participating in the town’s Community Group, and was an active member of her church.

Charlotte and Jack moved to Potomac, MD in 1982 when Jack took a job with the American Hospital Association in Washington DC. Charlotte continued to be a busy volunteer, giving her time to Sibley Hospital and Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Always a talented seamstress, Charlotte developed a passion for quilting and spent much of her free time designing and creating beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. When Jack retired in 1995, he and Charlotte moved to Keswick, VA. They were devoted members of St. Mark Lutheran Church, and active supporters of the Charlottesville Symphony and the Oratorio Society of Virginia. Charlotte volunteered at the Stone Robinson Elementary School library, continued with her quilt-making, and joined the Charlottesville Area Quilters Guild. Charlotte and Jack spent many summers at their cottage on Silver Lake in Harrisville, NH. They were happily married for 57 years, until Jack passed away in 2015.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by her son Jack W. Owen II. She is survived by her brothers Bob (Charlotte) and Charles; daughters Linda (Skip) and Lisa (Jim); daughter-in-law Amy; grandchildren Jack (Elizabeth), Laura, Courtney, Beth, Michael (Kelli), Lindsay, Ben, Mark and Kate; and great-grandchildren William and Anna.
