Christine Dawn Minnich
Christine “Chrissy” Dawn Minnich, long term resident of River Edge Rehab and Nursing in Waynesboro Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 18, 2024. Chrissy was born May 9, 1957 in Allentown, PA to the late Clarence “Mickey” and Myrtie Minnich.
Chrissy was preceded in death by not only her parents, but also two older brothers, Emory Vaughn McCowan and Earnest Eugene McCowan. She is survived by one brother, Richard Monroe McCowan of Kansas and three sisters Gwendolyn Oteka Bennis of Pennsylvania, Diana Leigh Rizer of Virginia, and Cathrine Deattri Hart of West Virginia. Chrissy also has many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Chrissy was raised in Pennsylvania. In1961 she was one of the children featured on an episode of the “Happy the Clown” children’s TV show broadcast in Philadelphia for her 4th birthday. Chrissy was a 1975 graduate of Pottstown High School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Chrissy and her family relocated to Elkins, West Virginia in the late 1970’s. In 2001, Chrissy and her late mother made their home with her older sister Diana in Gerrardstown, West Virginia. Chrissy was a long term resident at River Edge Rehab and Nursing in Waynesboro for the past three years.
As a child, Chrissy enjoyed playing with dolls and was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed spending time at the goat farm close to her home and would walk her dog “Tippy” to visit the goats. She enjoyed spending time and playing many games with her siblings as well as her nieces and nephews. Chrissy loved to read The Bible and many other books. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word search, and playing solitaire. Chrissy enjoyed writing and challenging her memory by writing lists of words starting with each letter of the alphabet. Chrissy enjoyed time spent with her doll “Angel” in the last several weeks of her life.
Chrissy will be remembered by those who knew her best as having a gentle heart, kind soul, and the love that she had for her family and friends. She will be forever missed.
