Clarence Eddie Hughes
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence Eddie Hughes, affectionately known as "Paw Paw." Eddie left this world on October 23, 2024, to reunite with his beloved wife, Debra S. Hughes, in Heaven. Born on March 31, 1949, Eddie dedicated his life to hard work and an unwavering commitment to his family.
He is survived by his cherished daughter, Casey Hughes Floyd; his “Best Son-in-Law,” Benjamin Richard Floyd; and the true apple of his eye, his grandson, Cannon Alexander Floyd. The arrival of Cannon completed Paw Paw’s world, and the two shared countless adventures together. Whether cheering from the sidelines at baseball and football games or engaging in their playful antics, their bond was unbreakable.
Eddie also leaves behind a devoted group of siblings: Brothers - Anthony “Tony” Hughes, Marky Hughes, Tommy Hughes and Sisters - Sybil Hunt, Nettie Hughes, Carrie Davis and Janice Imig.
Eddie was a fun-loving spirit, known for his ability to bring joy and laughter to everyone around him. He had a talent for making things run smoothly, whether it was a motor in the 1940’s Oldsmobile or 1979 GMC Mud Truck. His love for burning rubber, throwing some mud, and enjoying a cold beer was matched only by his zest for life.
Eddie's passion for life and his deep affection for family and friends created countless treasured memories. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his laughter will echo through eternity.
A celebration of his life will be held at Cannon Ridge Farm in Afton, VA in the weeks to come. Date TBD. To honor his wishes of not having a formal service, we will unite as family and friends to gather, toast, dance and honor the vibrant spirit of Clarence Eddie Hughes. Casey, Ben, and Cannon look forward to sharing memories, laughter, and stories in his memory in the very near future.
