Coleman Dorrell Cottrell
Coleman Dorrell Cottrell, 63, of Charlottesville, VA entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. He was born September 25, 1960, in Albemarle County, VA, to the late Lillie Mae Turner and Paul Burley Cottrell.
Coleman was educated in Albemarle County Public Schools. He was employed at Tiger Fuel Company as a truck driver for seventeen years until his retirement in 2022.
Coleman was a loving and caring father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend. He was always there for family and friends to lend a helping hand when called upon. His love and pride for his daughter, Ashley, and grandson, Avi, was shown in his very being and conversations. Coleman was a gentle giant who spoke his peace when needed and left it at that. He enjoyed watching westerns and boxing on TV. He also liked watching the Redskins (Commandos) beat the, as he called them, Cowboys (Cowgirls). His other loves included his 1996 F-150 XLT Pickup truck, fishing and listening to “old school” music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Susan (Susie) Taylor, and a grandson, Louis Baucom.
He leaves to cherish memories a loving and devoted daughter, Ashley (Petty Officer First Class Keiara “Kei”) Lewis; a grandson, Avi Brooks; four brothers, James “Ding” Turner, Leroy Turner, Anthony “Ray” Cottrell, and Timothy “Tim” Kenney; a sister, Cynthia “Doll” Cottrell; one brother-in-law, Roy Taylor; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss him.
