David Parker Harriman
David Parker Harriman, 75, of Crozet Virginia, died peacefully at home, on October 3, 2024. David was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Carolyn and Mark Harriman on October 23, 1948. He had a happy childhood, growing up in a loving family in Glyndon, Maryland and summering in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and Cape May, New Jersey. He attended Gilman school in Baltimore, received his B.A. from the University of Virginia, and his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore. He worked for The Michie Company Law publishers, starting as an indexer. He later served as editor-in-chief, vice president of marketing, and eventually president of the company. He saw that the future of law publishing would be digital and started his own internet company, Brief Reporter, in the late 1990’s He later became CEO of the National Law Library in Houston, Texas and then CEO of Casemaker Legal in Charlottesville, Virginia. After retiring, he was named one of the FastCase 50 as the “senior statesman of the legal publishing industry”. He was a stellar left-fielder for Joe’s Bar and Grill in the Charlottesville softball Z-league and loved playing golf at Old Trail in Crozet. David was married for 52 years to Deborah Biemiller Harriman, also from Maryland. David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, his sons, Andrew and Peter, his sisters Ann Pettingill (Don Beale), and Jane Von Jaglinsky (Peter) and his brother John Harriman (Rosemary O’Neill). He is also survived by his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Jacqueline and Frank Lemon and Cynthia and Richard Newton plus beloved nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to an informal gathering on October, 21 at 1:00 at the Old Trail Golf Club in Crozet.
