Davis "Pete" Porter Altman

Davis Porter "Pete" Altman passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023 just a couple of days before his 93rd birthday.
Born September 6, 1930 in Hopewell VA, Pete joined the US Navy after graduating from Hopewell High and was stationed in London, England where he met his beloved wife Margaret. He then went on to start a life-long career with General Electric and earn an electrical engineering degree from Virginia Tech. Pete and Margaret shared a love of travel which took them all over the world first while he was working for GE and then continuing into their retirement. Pete also was an avid sailor and was happiest when he was on the water - whether there was any wind blowing or not!

Pete was preceded in death by his oldest son, William, and his youngest son, Jason.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Margaret Rose Altman, a son, Stephen, a daughter Vanessa, a daughter-in-law Jeanette, his grandchildren Jacob, Taylor and Garrett, and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends whom he cherished.

The family will receive visitors at Teague Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A committal service will be on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 East Chandler St, Culpeper, VA 22701.

In lieu of flowers the Altman family requests considering a donation to the VFW Post 2524 Burton Hammond Post,12210 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
