Donald Ray Woodson
Donald R. Woodson, 70, of Crozet, husband of Katherine Bowen passed away peacefully at the Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville VA on Saturday, April 13, 2024 after his battle with liver cancer.
Donald was born on August 16, 1953 to the late Zeke and Carrie (Gibson) Woodson.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 34 years are his daughter April Bishop (for whom he had such a special place in his heart) and her husband Andrew "Bunky", a sister Katherine Moore, his mother in-law Louise Rich, many nieces and nephews, many other family and friends, his loving dog Gunny who always enjoyed his relaxing neck massages that he requested every morning from Donald, and a special friend Harold Gentry who always took the time to call and check in on him.
Donald was retired from VDOT. One of his favorite hobbies was woodworking. A skill that was self-taught. His pieces are amazing and they will be cherished forever by those who are in possession of them.
"You have been freed from a life that was so hard for you during your battle with cancer and you are now able to move on to that second chapter that I pray will be so joyful for you as you greet all those family and friends that have passed before you. You deserve nothing but the best as you have given us nothing but the best."
Donald's ashes will be brought back home and a memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
