Doris Meeks
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Doris Pauline Meeks, 82, of Louisa. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 30, 2024. She was born on November 5, 1941, to the late Luther Curtis Hairfield and Cora Woolfrey Glass of Mineral, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Mason Meeks Jr, daughter Shelby Lynn Meeks, brothers Harry Judd Hairfield, William Thomas Hairfield, Van Monroe Hairfield and sisters Nora Louise Seay, Ann Elizabeth Glass, Nancy Richardson, and Minnie Pearl Franklin. She is survived by her children; daughter Melisa Campbell and her husband William (Bill) of Louisa, son Greg Meeks and girlfriend Tonia and granddaughter Maylen of Madison, daughter-in-law Dorothy (Dottie) Meeks and son-in-law James Harlow. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bryant Manrique and wife Elizabeth, Brittany Carr and husband Tim, Lauren Manrique, Julia Manrique and partner Tyler, Ben Meeks, Jessica Harlow and wife Kim, and great grandson Troy Marshall. She is also survived by two sisters Essie Gordon, Mary Traynham Wheeler and her husband Albert, and a host of numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was known to many for her loving, vibrant and spunky nature. She enjoyed speaking to just about anyone and loved having long conversations and sharing laughter with her family and loved ones. Doris had a passion for flowers as her home and yard were always thriving with the most beautiful flowers. Anyone who knew Doris, knew she had a heart of gold and loved spending time watching Hallmark movies.
The family will receive friends and family from 6-8PM Friday, July 5, 2024, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa, VA.
