Dorothy Mae Perkins
On Sunday, February 18, 2024, Dorothy May Perkins (Ponton, Hopfensperger), aged 87, passed away. She was born on July 13, 1936, to Edison Aubrey Ponton and Helen Bittner Ponton Atkins, who preceded her in death. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Wesley Street, Aloys Bernard Hopfensperger II, and Delmar Dock Perkins Jr. Her sister, Annie Christine Mann, and her brother, Aubrey Marshall Ponton, also passed away before her.
Dottie was passionate about caring for seniors and dedicated many years of her life to this with her initiative, "Dottie's Home Care". Dottie was a great cook, she loved to feed her local community at her restaurant, "Mama's Place". She enjoyed playing bingo, and you could find her at local bingo games several nights a week. In her later years, Dottie cherished spending time with her family. She was a member of "Women of the Moose" for over 20 years.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Dorothy "Marlene" Moubray (Charles), and her son, Aloys Bernard “Bernie” Hopfensperger III (Teresa), along with her grandchildren, Aloys Bernard “Boo Boo” Hopfensperger IV (Tootie), Aubrey Joseph “Joey” Hopfensperger (Sarynity), and Sammie Lyn Bowmaster (Donnie). Additionally, she leaves behind five great-grandchildren, her sister, Ann Shiflett, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Charlottesville VFW Post 1827 (Located on River Rd, Charlottesville VA) on Sunday February 25, 2024 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
