Elaine Chaffin Baskerville, 86, of Orange, Virginia, departed this life on December 4, 2023. She was born on June 23, 1937, in Wise County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Carl H. Chaffin and Myrtle Meade Chaffin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Alexander Terrell Baskerville, and her brother, Robert H. Chaffin. 

Elaine is survived by three children, Virginia Dulin and husband Chris, Elizabeth Yowell and husband Jonathan, and Timothy Baskerville and wife Tonya; seven grandchildren, Christopher Dulin, David Dulin, Zachary Yowell and wife Carson, Abigail Yowell, Claire Yowell, Meade Baskerville and wife Andrea, and Sarah Baskerville; and two great grandchildren, Lacie Yowell and Brooke Yowell.

Elaine graduated from Richlands High School in 1955 and Longwood College in 1959 where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Orange Virginia, where she served on the Altar Guild and Hospitality Committee. Elaine worked for Orange County Public Schools and retired after 27 years. 

Elaine enjoyed reading, working in the yard, and socializing with her friends. She cherished her annual family beach vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Orange, Virginia. A private interment will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, Virginia. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 119 Caroline Street, Orange, Virginia, 22960.
