Elizabeth Miser
Elizabeth Miser 85, of Washington D.C., transitioned from her earthly tabernacle on Friday, March 1, 2024. Elizabeth was born on January 11,1939 to the late Lewis and Josephine Miser. She was raised in Barboursville, VA, along with her two siblings, the late John Miser and the late Frances Miser Johnson. Elizabeth is also preceded in death by her eldest son, Lindsay Matthew Baker, and two granddaughters, Kimberly and Tamara Baker.
Elizabeth began raising her children in Charlottesville, VA, before deciding to make Washington D.C. her forever home. There, she became a licensed cosmetologist, which led to her owning her own booth and serving her community for over 40 years, before deciding to retire. Elizabeth took pride in her family, home and above all serving the Lord. She was part of the usher and nurses’ ministries before becoming a deacon at her local congregation, until her health began to fail. Afterwards, she began worshipping with fellow believers in the fellowship hall of her apartment building. Elizabeth enjoyed spending time in Virginia during homecoming and revival at Chestnut Grove, and the fun and laughter shared during her time visiting with family and friends in Careytown. Thank you to Ed and Thelma Hill for all the years of helping her travel this way.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Wesley Baker (Sandy); two granddaughters, Keyoko Ferguson, Nanjemoy, MD, and Cassarah Baker-Franklin (Natalie) Austin, TX; three grandsons, Wesley Baker Jr., Lynchburg, VA, Skylor Morton (Alexis) Phoenixville, PA, and Tylor Morton (Alyssa), Austin, TX; 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Also surviving is her devoted cousin, Norman Carey, and special thanks to her devoted neighbor and friend, William Scott.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Bethany Baptist Church 16034 Spotswood Trail (Rt. 33), Ruckersville, VA 22968, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
