Ernest Franklin Kennon
Ernest Franklin Kennon, 87, of Daisy Drive, Orange, died at his residence on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Ernest was born on October 7, 1936, in Louisa County and was the son of the late George M. Kennon and Mildred Suydam Kennon. He was also predeceased by two brothers George Kennon and Richard Kennon; two sisters Edith K. Shields, and Phyllis Bailey; and a granddaughter Virginia K. Harrison.
Ernest was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 156, and a retired police officer in Orange for many years.
Ernest is survived by his wife Sandra L. Kennon of Orange; four stepdaughters Darice Griffin of Ellerbe, NC, Laura Byram of Orange, Melissa Conley of Orange, and Alicia Deane; one son Tony L. Kennon and wife Diane of Lake of the Woods, and one stepson Michael Deane; one grandchild, Lee Kennon, seven step-grandchildren, Kayla Conley, Cole Conley, Nick McCauley, Travis Griffin Keely Griffin, Jack Plumb, and Kim Plumb; three great-grandchildren Henry James Kennon, Maggie Kennon, Vivian Kennon; four step-great-grandchildren, Merrick Long, Zander Harrison, Kendall Harrison, and Dominie Turner; one brother Rev Dr. Harry G. Kennon and wife Gale of Charlottesville; and a close friend Elizabeth Lloyd of Orange.
A memorial funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church with interment at the Graham Cemetery, Orange. Rev. Dr. Harry G. Kennon, Rev. Forest Porter, and Pastor Josh Munnikhuysen will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers named are Mark Amos, Larry Cook, and Thomas Mallory. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the church. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is assisting the family.
