Floyd M. Artrip

May 28, 1943 - January 17, 2024

Floyd M. Artrip, 80, of Charlottesville, VA passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Hospice of Piedmont. He was born on May 28, 1943 in Winchester, VA.

He was the son of Frank William Artrip, Sr. and Leota Dean Artrip. He was preceded in death by his three sisters Virginia Snyder, Juanita, Zida, and his two brothers Frank William Artrip, Jr. and Cecile Freemont Artrip.

Floyd graduated from James Wood High School, class of 1961 in Winchester, VA. He was also a graduate of the University of Virginia, class of 1965, Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and received a Master Degree in Business Administration from the George Washington University as part of the class of 1973.

Floyd was a good father and husband. He was a hard worker. He had his own business since 1975, A-Systems Incorporated which designed and manufactured electronics for the United States Military through contracts with Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Sperry. In addition his company did work for GPV and National Optronics. His business was an American success story which spanned 45 years. He also owned two commercial buildings. He loved to be outdoors canoeing, fishing, gardening, and travelling all over Western Europe and parts of Southern Asia.

He is survived by his wife, Maliwan V. Artrip of Charlottesville, VA; his two sons Joseph P. Artrip, and his wife, Grace K. Artrip of

Warrenton, VA, and Mitch Artrip of Crozet, VA.

The family wishes to express their thanks to UVA Doctors: Dr. John Leiner, Dr. Hall of the Medicine Department; Dr. Tri Le

of the Cancer Department; nurses and staff from the Hospice of Piedmont.

A private service will be held at the Catholic Church of the Holy Comforter. Interment will follow in St. George Catholic Cemetery in Scottsville.
