Frances Leavell Gentry Davis
Frances Leavell Gentry Davis, age 97, of Culpeper, Virginia (formerly of Palmyra, VA) passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Culpeper Health and Rehab.
Born on March 26, 1927, she was the daughter of Floyd William Leavell, Sr. and Mary Ann Barfield Leavell.
Frances , also known as Dee Dee (by her Leavell Family), was a loving Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great grandmother, Neighbor, and Friend and loved being every one of them. She was all about faith, family, & friends. She was a Christian lady and especially loved her church Family. It made her day when family and friends called on the phone. She never forgot a birthday and knew the ages and dates of their birth! Watching the birds (especially hummingbirds and woodpeckers) was a daily routine. She definitely had a green thumb when it came to her flowers! Cooking and baking was another favorite thing and you never could visit without having something to eat. She especially loved baking a Pineapple Upside Down Cake for birthdays and gatherings! She was a remarkable, beautiful lady and will be missed by many.
Frances is survived by: Her 3 Daughters: Pat Gentry Brown of Culpeper, VA, Brenda Gentry Smoot (Eric) of Carlsbad, CA, and Nancy Gentry Pace (Bobby) of Zion Crossroads, VA. Her 2 Sons: John William Gentry, Jr. (Debbie) of Locust Grove, VA and Michael Warren Gentry (Betty) of Locust Grove, VA. Her Step Daughter, Rita Davis Moore of Myrtle Beach, SC. Her Step Son-In-Law, Albert M. Hunt of Burlington, NC, a host of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, & Great- Great- Grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her Husband, Chester Forest Davis, Father of her Children, John William Gentry, Sr., Son, Robert Wayne Gentry, Sr., Son-In-Law, Pratt Brown, Step Daughter, Debbie Davis Hunt, Granddaughter, Sherry Smoot, Granddaughter-In-Law, Tonya Rogers Gentry, 5 Brothers (Floyd, Jr., Raymond, Jackson (Buck), Richard, & Jimmy) and 2 Sisters, (Elizabeth and Mary).
A family visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Preddys Funeral Home in Gordonsville, VA. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 1 pm at Preddys, as well with Rev. Kenneth Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, Va.
