Frederick Sullivan York

September 8, 1948 - March 8, 2025

Frederick Sullivan York, Jr., ”Fred”, 76, of Palmyra, VA, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose warmth, humor, and love for life left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him.

Born in Los Angeles, CA on September 8, 1948, Fred graduated from the Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany, and Ogelthorpe University in Atlanta, Ga.. Fred was an Architectural Hardware Consultant with Allegion until his retirement in 2019.

Fred had a natural gift for connecting with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere—whether it was a lifelong friend or a stranger in line at the grocery store. His sense of humor was infectious, his quick wit always ready with a perfectly timed joke or a playful remark that brought laughter to any room.

He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Regina York, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his happiness. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Matthew York and Jaclyn Wiggins who carry forward his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for family. Fred’s greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren—Bennett, Charlotte, and Mackenzie Wiggins—who adored their grandfather and cherished every moment spent with him.

Sports were another great passion in Fred’s life. Whether cheering for his beloved Washington Commanders, skiing black diamonds, enjoying a round of golf, or watching a soccer or football game, he loved the camaraderie and excitement that sports brought. When he wasn’t on the course or watching a game, he could often be found at the card table, where his competitive spirit and strategic mind made him a formidable opponent.

Fred is survived by his wife Regina; his sister Kathleen Edwards and her husband RJ; his son Matthew and his wife Amber; his daughter Jaclyn and her husband Ryan and his three grandchildren Bennett, Charlotte and Mackenzie. Not to be forgotten are the grand-dogs Porter, Aioli, Nola and Murphy.

Visitation for Fred will be on March 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Teague

Funeral Service 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

A celebration of his life will be held on a future date where family and friends will gather to play some golf and honor a man who made the world a little brighter with his presence.

Fred was always happy to support the charities that his family and friends were involved with. With that in mind, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice, in honor of Fred’s generous spirit.
