George Francis Tennyson

George F. Tennyson, Jr passed peacefully on June 22, 2024 at the age of 93. George was born and raised in Washington D.C. Son of George F. Tennyson, Sr., and Dorothy Deane Tennyson, George served for 4 years as a Marine Corps Medic. Following his military service, George served a 35-year career in U.S. government which included years at U.S. Printing Office, U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, and U.S. Marshals Service. George retired from U.S. Marshals Service in 1995 and moved to Ruckersville, in Greene County, Virginia, where he raised cattle and continued the operation of his family farm. George was known for his love of animals and assigned names to all of his cattle, as well as adopting/nurturing many indoor and outdoor cats. George was also known for his enormous personality and having a huge heart. He routinely donated to numerous charities and was always compassionate about locals in need and community service. George deeply appreciated the love and care provided by the staff of Rosewood Village at Greenbriar assisted living facility in Charlottesville. Family and friends will be welcomed at Preddy’s Funeral Home in Madison, Virginia on Monday, July 1st from 6:00-7:30pm. Funeral Service will also be at Preddy’s on Tuesday, July 2nd at 10:00am, followed by interment at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, Virginia.
