George Milton Norcross, Jr.

March 4, 1931 - July 9, 2023

George Milton Norcross, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023 at Anthology of Charlottesville.
George was born to Lucy Goodman Norcross and George Milton Norcross, Sr. on March 4th, 1931 in Charlottesville, VA.

George grew up on Hinton Avenue and was proud to be a “Belmont Boy.” He spent a lot of time as a young boy with his best friends, David Lee Preddy and Harry Hughes.

George was very proud of the fact that he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. When he came home from his time in the service he met and married the love of his life, Barbara Breeden Norcross. They were married for 66 years before she passed away on January 25th, 2021.

George had many interests during his life. Not the least of which was cars. He enjoyed spending time in the pits at Eastside Speedway as a young man. He also thoroughly enjoyed buying cars. He would buy one every two to three years and loved to “haggle” with the dealers.

George sold Nationwide Insurance for over 57 years. He met many, many people and made many, many friends through his business.

He and Barbara were avid UVA fans. They travelled to quite a few ACC and NCAA tournaments and Bowl games following the men’s and women’s basketball and football teams. In good years and bad years, they were loyal fans for almost 60 years. They met so many wonderful people through their devotion to UVA and sports.

He and Barbara also had an “Open House.” They entertained numerous UVA athletes for lunch, dinner or just for time away from the school. Their daughters’ friends always felt welcome there too.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his soulmate, Barbara; his grandson, Michael Bibb and his nephew, Charlie Morris.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Terri Bibb and her husband Jimmy, and Angelea Norcross and her husband, Evan Foster. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Elizabeth Martens and her husband Aaron; and Evan C. Foster; his two great-grandchildren, Charlie Martens and Jacob Martens; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Morris and her husband, Steve and their daughter, Krystyn.

No one could have asked for a better father and we were very blessed to have had him with us for so long. We will miss him always but he will never be forgotten.
