George Thomas Wood, Jr.

George Thomas Wood Jr., 76, of Charlottesville, Virginia passed away with his family by his side on December 23, 2023, at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.

George was born November 5, 1947, in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Thomas Wood and Frances Via Wood.

George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Lou Wood; his children, Diane, Mark (Rachel), James (Shelly), and Stacy Nelson (Chris); his grandchildren, Alana, Felicia, Brittney (Chris), Tre' (Kati), Jacob (Maddie), Brant (Lee Lee), Abby, JT, and Braven; and his great grandchildren, Junior, Taevyon, Kaiya, Zane, Barrett and Neriah.

Pallbearers will include JT, Tre', Brant, Jacob, Thomas, and Lewis; Ernie will be an Honorary Pallbearer.

The family welcomes friends from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, 201 N. 1st Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22911, with Reverend Paul Johnson officiating.
