George Tommie Lamm

George Tommie Lamm, Jr., 75 of Ruckersville, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the University of Virgina. He was born on January 22, 1949 in Charlottesville, Va. to the late George Tommie Lamm, Sr. and Catherine Payne Lamm.

Tommie retired from the Greene County and Albemarle County Schools. He volunteered his time with the Greene County Fire Department and Greene County Rescue Squad, always helping others and his community.

Tommie is survived by his wife, Shirley Birckhead Lamm of Ruckersville; two daughters, Stephanie Kay Janow of Georgia, and Samantha N. Shifflett and her husband Allen of Stanardsville, Va.; two grandsons, Colby Ryan Shifflett and Spencer Allen Shifflett of Stanardsville; two brothers, Rodney Lamm and his wife Janice, and Vincent T. Lamm; a devoted and beloved aunt, Jean Breeden, whom he loved very dearly; and extended family and loved ones.

The family wishes to acknowledge special thanks to the medical staff at the University of Virginia and Hospice of the Piedmont for their kindness, support, and excellent care.

At Tommie’s request, there will not be a service and a private burial will be at the Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Greene County Rescue Squad, 9845 Spotswood Trail, Stanardsville, Va., 22973 or their favorite charity.
