Geraldine Mae Mallory Brown
Geraldine Mae Mallory Brown March 2, 2025 Geraldine Mae Mallory Brown, 83, surrounded by loved ones, transitioned from labor to reward on March 2, 2025, at the home of her daughter and devoted caregiver, Carolyn Lockhart in Richmond, VA. She was born June 13, 1941 to the late Welford Mallory and Annie Lee Mozie Mallory of Greene County, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Brown, Sr.; three brothers: Welford Mallory,Jr, Johnny Mallory and Bernard Mallory; sisters: Dorothy Mallory and Marie Mallory. She was also preceded in death by stepsons: William S. Brown, Jr and Larry Brown, Sr.
Geraldine was educated in the Charlottesville, VA school system and attended Burley High School. She started working while in high school to help her parents. She worked at many places of employment throughout the years as a seamstress, housekeeper, childcare provider, waitress and assembly technician before retiring from Northrop Grumman. She was a diligent provider, sometimes working 2 or 3 jobs at the same time to care for her family.
At a young age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant and remained a member of Shiloh until her death. She had a servant’s heart and was always picking up others when they needed a ride to church, work or the grocery store. She wanted to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She loved spending quality time with her family, friends and loved ones. When she was younger, Geraldine enjoyed dancing, going to football games, playing baseball with her family, horseback riding and fishing. After she retired, Geraldine truly enjoyed sitting on her porch reading her Bible, hosting family visits, watching nature, and working in her garden. She often recited her greatest adventure during her working years which was, sitting in the cockpit of an airplane with the pilot helping her steer the plane from Earlysville, VA to Richmond, VA as a quality control air flight experience for several employees of Teledyne Avionics.
Geraldine persevered through many health challenges including arthritis, heart problems, cancer and dementia. But through it all, she never stopped praying, smiling or checking on the well-being of her family. Even after moving to Richmond with her daughter due to memory loss, she always asked if she could help with anything because that was what she strongly desired to do - to help somebody. In her many conversations about the Lord, and even in her most challenging days, she would always tell us to “Let Go and Let God”. Even until the end, she never lost her unwavering faith and commitment to the Lord.
Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory: children: Carolyn Brown Lockhart and husband Otis Lockhart, Jr, of Richmond, VA; William Mallory and wife Brenda of Ruckersville, VA; Stanley Brown of Charlottesville, VA; Dr. Angela Anderson of Choctaw, OK; and Jocelyn Napper of Charlottesville, VA; two sisters-in-law: Delores Mallory of Stanardsville, VA, and Servera Mallory of Charlottesville, VA; several grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
