Gloria Crawford Strickler Watson
On September 18th our beloved Gloria Crawford (Strickler) Watson was promoted to glory. Many new her as Mom, Grandma, GiGi, or Glo. She was born December 18, 1941, to Alma and Leslie Crawford. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by daughter Stacy Strickler, sister Sandra Campbell, husband Alvin Watson, ex-husband Maynard Stickler, and several dear in-laws.
She is survived by daughters Dana Strickler, Vicki Collier (Thurman), and Robin Hester (Steve), sister Colleen Herndon (Carson), brother-in-law Dennis Campbell, and many in-laws in Davis, Strickler, and Taylor families whom she loved dearly. Her grandchildren; Ashlynn, Erica (Tim), Casey, Jacob, Tyler (Allison), Travis, Dante (Mary) – Great-Grandchildren – Tatum, Jessa, Quinton, Judah, Griffin, Rosie, Braden, Cassius, Leo, Zimri, and Brianna.
She was a career long worker at State Farm Insurance as well as a member and deacon of Mtn Plain Baptist Church.
She has been described by her family as the rock, a quiet nurturer, one of the hardest working women they knew, and a woman who loved God and her family. She enjoyed laughing until she cried. A verse that describes her well is Proverbs 31:31 – “honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
A casual Family Night will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday September 24th at Crozet Baptist Church. A “come as you are” casual celebration of life will be Monday September 25th at Crozet Baptist Church 11 a.m. with Dr. Sam Kellum and Pastor Thurman Collier.
