Hallie Romona Rhinehart

August 17, 1936 - November 26, 2024

Hallie Ramona Rhinehart, 88 years old, passed away on November 26, 2024, at her home in Crozet, Virginia. Hallie, known mostly as Mona, was born on August 17, 1936, in Bristol, Virginia to the late Viola Annie Pearl Hayes and Howard Marion Hayes. She was the oldest of four children, Marion Hayes, Christine Hayes, and Jimmy Hayes.

Mona married the late Irvin Rhinehart in Baltimore, Maryland and together they had four sons, Von Eric, Irvin Junior, Pierre Andre, and Antwan. She was a faithful member of Christian Life Church, a sales representative for Avon, hospitality worker at the Merchants Club, and loved styling hair. Her husband, Irvin, passed in 1980 and in 1982 Mona soon met Richard Anderson and together they had a son, Richard Anderson II. In 1993 Mona and Richard II moved from Maryland and settled in Crozet, Virginia. Mona began working for Con Agra for many years and then as a cashier at Piedmont Virginia Community College. She shared many good years with her close friends Shirley Jones and Evelyn Smith.

Mona was a devoted Christian and loved to listen to gospel music in her living room on Sunday mornings. She was a dedicated mother and loved all her sons unconditionally. She was like a second mother to many of Richard’s friends and her door was always open.

Mona is survived by her sister Christine Nins; sons Irvin Junior, Pierre Andre, Antwan, and Richard; grandchildren Jordan Rhinehart, Adrian Rhinehart, Britney Ramona Rhinehart, Anita Rhinehart, Erica Rhinehart, Kingston Anderson, and Myles Anderson; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Caitlin Riopel and best friend Geraldine Langston, and many other family members, neighbors, and friends. Mona was a bright light in our lives, and we will hold her memory close to our hearts.

Funeral services will take place at Teague Funeral home on Ivy Road in Charlottesville, Virginia on Sunday, December 15 from 12pm-1pm.
