Hubert Freeman Shifflett

Hubert Freeman Shifflett, age 89, of Stanardsville passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 in Greene County, Virginia. He was born February 3, 1934 in Charlottesville to the late Dennis Howard Shifflett and Lissie Collier Shifflett. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Espered Earl Howard Shifflett and Rosser Elbert Shifflett. Freeman is survived by his wife, Lois Jane Shifflett and a sister Shelviajean S. Allen.

Freeman was a member of Evergreen Church of the Brethren and was very involved in disaster response trips to help those in need following natural disasters. He also served on the Greene County Rescue Squad for twenty-six years and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Freeman was a

carpenter by trade, installed gutters in later years and would pretty much do anything needed. He spent a lot of time at the races when working for Goodyear and made many friends along the way. Freeman had a funny personality and liked to carry on with people and enjoy life.

A funeral service conducted by Reverend Brian Robinson will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Evergreen Church of the Brethren, with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen.
