James Allen Nicholas

James Allen Nicholas, Jr., better known as “Jimmy”, was a devoted truck driver and cherished member of the Charlottesville community, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024. Born and raised in Keswick, VA, Jimmy found joy in the simple pleasures of life and touched many hearts along his journey. Jimmy dedicated the better part of his life to truck driving, serving over 40 years with diligence and commitment at Allied Moving Trucking Company, Northcross Moving Trucking Company and Mayflower/Wheaton Moving Trucking Company. His strong work ethic and reliability made him a respected figure in his profession. Jimmy had a zest for life beyond his work, he enjoyed driving a taxi and playing cards with friends. His warm smile and jovial spirit brightened every gathering he attended.From a young age, Jimmy was a member of the Baptist Church in Keswick, where his faith in God was steadfast. He often found solace in quoting Bible verses and lived by the principles of kindness and compassion. Born to the late James Allen Nicholas and Eva Douglas, Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maggielean Edith Nicholas and his sister Pearl Braxton. He is survived by his devoted children: James Allen Nicholas III, affectionately known as Nick, and his wife Danielle Nicholas of Crozet, VA; Shashie Morton of Brandywine, MD. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Elwood Jones (deceased), Veronica Jones, and adopted son Eric “Fitzy” Coleman, all of Charlottesville, VA. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Octavia Nicholas, MarQuelah Wilson, DeMarr Wilson, LeBron Wilson (deceased), O’Neca Taylor and Elliot Arnette and great-grandchildren: Kayden Phillips, Qu’Ran Taylor, O’Niyah Taylor, Diamond Arnette, and Aaliyah Arnette. In addition to his longtime companion Jacqueline Willis, Jimmy is survived by his two loyal friends Samuel “Click” Jackson and Ricky “Slick Rick” Randolph. He leaves behind a multitude of extended family members, dear friends, and colleagues who will deeply miss him. Jimmy Nicholas will be remembered fondly for his unwavering faith, generosity, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
