James Bryan Nichols

James Bryan Nichols, 68 of Orange, VA passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2023, at Culpeper Hospital due to heart issues. James was born September 22, 1954, in Front Royal, VA. James was an expert carpenter and plumber who worked at several plumbing companies during his career. He retired from Custom Plumbing in Fredericksburg VA. He was a past member of the Gordonsville Vol. Fire Co. James loved to watch nature out of the window in his building. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, camping, fishing, his cigarettes and a good cold Miller beer. James was truly a family man and if anyone ever died of a broken heart, he did. He died on the same day his son; Jim was born 47 years ago. He longed to be with his son and now they are together.

James is survived by his wife, Robin Crawford Nichols, and departed his life just 2 days short of their 50th wedding anniversary. James is survived by his brothers, Mike Nichols (Carol), Bruce Nichols (Diane) and two grandchildren, Hayden and Chase Nichols. He is survived by his in-laws, Jeff and Debbie Lloyd and Roy and Rena Chiles. James is also survived by his Uncle, Delmas Taylor and Aunt, Diane Jarrell. In addition, James is survived by one nephew, Roy Chiles (Brooke) and three nieces, Michelle Boroughs, Elizabeth Smith, and Jennifer Carpenter (Andrew), two great-nephews, Dillian Chiles and Liam Carpenter, and one great niece, Makayla Boroughs. James was proceeded in death by his mother, Helen Taylor Weakley and his only son that he missed and dearly loved, James (Jim) Bryan Nichols Jr. James leaves behind many friends and a huge number of family members that will forever treasure his memory. As per James wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no “official” service. There will be a celebration of his life at a future date. The family encourages visitors to stop by and visit with his wife, Robin and the rest of the family at his home on Mountain Track Road in Orange, VA.
