James Joseph Tupper
James J. Tupper, 62, of Charlottesville, Va., died on October 19, 2023, in Charlottesville.
Born May 2, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late John H. and Bertha J. Tupper. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy M. Tupper.
James was retired from the U.S. Army as a Lt. Colonel. He was also a civilian retiree of the National Ground Intelligence Center in Charlottesville.
James is survived by his sister, Marijean Tupper of Grove City, Ohio, brother, John (Joan) Tupper of Asheville, Ohio, sister, Catherine (Daniel) Dillon of Fort Wayn, Indiana, and brother, Thomas (Brenda) Tupper of Careywood, Idaho; nieces and nephews, Patrick (Anne) Dillon, Jaclyn (Stephen) Gessner, Cole (Amanda) Tupper, Claire Tupper, James (Ashley) Tupper, and Dylan Tupper; great nieces and nephew, Charlotte and Sloane Dillon, James Tupper, Everett and Collins Tupper, and Jack Tupper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 401 Alderman Road, Charlottesville, Va. Innichement will follow in the church priory.
The family offers a special thanks to the Moubry Lane neighbors and friends, and his friends at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church.
James will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’ memory to Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, the Seminole Trail Fire Department, or the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department.
