Janet Durrer

Janet Mae Durrer, age 81, passed away on January 1, 2024, at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born April 19, 1942, in Charlottesville, VA to George V. Durrer, Jr. and Dorothy D. Durrer.
Janet is survived by her brother, Bob Durrer, and his wife, Jane Durrer; niece, Laura Durrer; nephew, Evan Durrer, and his wife, Lauren Durrer; a great pride and joy of her life, great-niece, Hannah Durrer and great-nephew, Verick Durrer; special cousin, Andy Buckalo, of Houston, Texas, and family; and many other loving cousins.

Janet was a member of First Baptist Church Park Street and the Senior Center. She was an avid UVA sports fan and a longtime season ticket holder for both football and women's basketball.

Janet graduated from St. Anne’s School and attended the University of Virginia, where she worked as a Lab technician and retired after 30 years.

Some of Janet’s most cherished times were with family on vacation at the Outer Banks or enjoying and caring for her beloved pets. Janet will be greatly missed. She was a caring, loving, and selfless person.

The family will receive friends at Teague Funeral Home on Ivy Road from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
