Jeanette Skeen Fitzgerald

Jeanette Skeen Fitzgerald passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Sunday morning, September 10, 2023, in her home in Fluvanna County.

Jeanette was born February 18, 1940, to the late Elmer and Tessie Skeen in Charlottesville, Va. She had three wonderful children that she loved. Jeannette enjoyed traveling, reading, expanding her knowledge, her koi pond, flowers, the birds that came to her feeders and many dogs and cats that came into her life. She had a thirst to see and know more. Her travels took her to Paris, London, Greece, Iceland, Antarctica, Alaska, Nova Scotia, the Mediterranean, and the Panama Canal. She also traveled to many states to enjoy the sights, good food, museums and art. Family was special to her; she loved going to the Musick family reunions in Southwest Virginia -where her parents were from- to see the extended family. It was such a joy to her when family or friends came to visit.

Jeanette is survived by her two sons, Gary Roberts (wife, Suzan), Greg Roberts (wife, Maria) and daughter, Phoebe Herring (husband, Larry); two grandsons, David Herring (Nikki) and Randolph Herring (Cecelia); three great-grandchildren, Darrion, Dylan and Kayleigh Herring; as well as her step-great-grandchildren, Linda, Carlton, Brittany, Joshua and Kaitlyn.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her brother Leon Skeen, her husband Mack Fitzgerald and the children’s father, Randolph Roberts.

Family will welcome friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville, Va.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Monticello Memorial Gardens with Gabe Turner officiating.
